Hello, my name is Jim, a long-term resident of Santa Monica. For several years, I have been renting out two spare bedrooms in my home, primarily to international visitors. This has allowed me to connect with many wonderful people from across the globe. You can view photos of some past roommates above. I assure you my listing is completely legitimate, and I will ensure you feel entirely comfortable before moving forward with any rental agreement. Room Availability and Terms

A fully furnished bedroom will become available on or around December 1st, with a monthly rent of $1250. I can accommodate some flexibility regarding the move-in date. Given that I frequently offer this room for shorter stays, I am also open to inquiries for January, February, or March of the coming year. Please simply indicate your preferred moving timeframe. A fully refundable security deposit of $500 is required. The monthly rent includes WiFi and all utilities—water, electricity, and gas. While I have a preference for short-term rentals of one to three months due to my enjoyment of meeting new people, longer lease terms will be considered.

I am also open to the possibility of two friends (platonic only; couples are not considered) sharing the room for a slightly adjusted monthly rent of $1500. The room itself is very pleasant, featuring a high-quality queen-sized bed, a large teak armoire, a wall-length closet for storage, and a desk with a chair and lamp—additional photos are available above. I have a particular interest in learning about other cultures and therefore give some preference to visitors from abroad, though all applicants are welcome. I provide all essentials, including clean, high-quality organic cotton bed linens and bath towels.

Apartment and Household Details

My apartment is a bright and airy three-bedroom, two-bathroom unit located in a very secure neighborhood. It is conveniently close to public transit, the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, and the Third Street Promenade. You will have full access to a well-equipped kitchen complete with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. On-site laundry facilities are also available. I am a respectful, professional male who occupies one bedroom with a private bathroom. As a vegetarian, I would prefer a roommate who does not plan to cook or consume meat within the apartment. The overall atmosphere is friendly, serene, and socially laid-back. Smoking and drugs are not permitted; moderate drinking is acceptable. This is an environmentally conscious household: we recycle diligently, use LED lighting throughout to conserve energy, and employ only all-natural cleaning products.

Expectations and How to Apply

Prospective roommates should be neat and clean, maintaining their personal space and common areas tidily, and washing dishes promptly after use. A social, friendly demeanor and an openness to meeting new people are important. Age is not a barrier, provided you are mature, responsible with the home, and punctual with rent payments.
