Job Summary
The Biller is tasked with meeting billing performance standards as outlined in the company\'s timeliness policy. This role involves the prompt resolution of outstanding accounts receivable from all reimbursement sources, adhering to established procedures. Key responsibilities include billing accounts within specified timeframes for Hospital, Physician, Outpatient, Medi-Cal, Managed Care, HMO/PPO, and out-of-state Medicaid claims. The Biller will also conduct follow-up on Outpatient Medi-Cal, Managed Care, HMO/PPO, and out-of-state Medicaid claims, verify the accuracy of insurance payments, assign appropriate posting codes, and complete other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory; a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding or a related field is advantageous.
- At least two years of direct billing experience is required.
- Previous experience with out-patient hospital and physician billing is necessary.
- Familiarity with Medi-Cal, Managed Care, and HMO/PPO processes and billing guidelines.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD9, ICD10 Codes, Modifiers, Surgical Procedure Codes, and Revenue Codes.
- Understanding of medical claims follow-up procedures.
- Knowledge of Medicare Part A and B.
- Experience using insurance websites to check claim status.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
Position Details
Working Title: Biller I
Pay rate: $21.00 - $27.25 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Position Type: Full-time; Non-Exempt
Schedule: Alternative work week schedule—Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Additional Information: Assessment testing and post-offer background checks are conducted.
