Beacon Hill\'s client, a prominent firm within the AmLaw 60, is currently looking to hire three Contract Litigation Docketing Specialists. These positions will provide crucial support to handle a significant increase in workload for the firm\'s Intellectual Property practice group. Reporting to the Litigation Docketing Manager, the successful candidates will collaborate directly with attorneys and legal personnel to ensure precise and dependable calendaring services for litigation matters across federal, state, and agency jurisdictions.
Location
These roles may be based in-office at either the Torrance, CA (90502) or San Diego, CA (92101) locations. Remote work is also an option for candidates residing anywhere in the United States, provided they possess a thorough understanding of the California Rules of Court.
Position Details
- Start Date: Immediate
- Duration: Ongoing, with possibility of conversion to a direct-hire role
- Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (37.5 hours weekly), with overtime as required
- Pay Rate: $41.00 to $50.50 per hour, based on experience
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of litigation docketing experience within a law firm environment is mandatory.
- Background in high-volume docketing operations.
- A degree from an accredited college or university, a paralegal certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the California Rules of Court.
- Prior experience calculating deadlines for both federal and state courts; familiarity with CompuLaw Vision is a strong advantage.
- Experience with rules-based calendaring software, such as Milana, is beneficial.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure.
- Team player with the capacity to switch between tasks efficiently.
About the Role
In this key position, the Litigation Docketing Specialist will provide essential support by independently inputting case details, activities, and critical deadlines into the CompuLaw Vision system. This work must adhere to all established departmental protocols, best practices, and workflows. Key responsibilities include reviewing court filings, legal correspondence, and requests from case teams; responding to inquiries concerning deadlines and court rules; conducting jurisdictional research; and preparing thorough summaries for case teams with guidance from Senior Specialists or the Manager as necessary.
The specialist is accountable for ensuring all assigned calendaring is both accurate and completed promptly. This involves upholding policies designed to guarantee the precise entry of deadlines and docket items, as well as generating and distributing reports to case teams for verification. The role also includes performing quality assurance reviews in line with internal procedures and escalating complex questions to senior docketing staff or the Manager. Furthermore, the specialist may contribute suggestions to the Litigation Docketing Manager aimed at enhancing departmental processes and efficiency, stay updated on procedural and rule changes in relevant legal forums, and participate in special projects.
