About This Job
As a CNC Mill Programmer, your primary responsibility will be to generate programs for CNC milling machines utilizing CAD/CAM software. You will also be tasked with setting up and operating these machines, which includes establishing zero and reference points and loading raw materials. Furthermore, you will manufacture precision metal components by interpreting technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and verbal directives. The application of various measuring instruments and hand tools will be required as part of the process.
Specific Duties:
- Program CNC milling machines.
- Verify and validate CNC programs.
- Perform complete set-up, operation, and completion of machining jobs in accordance with provided prints.
- Troubleshoot issues and make necessary program edits.
- Input program instructions, including zero and reference points, into CNC mills.
- Utilize appropriate hand tools, including mallets, wrenches, pedestal grinders, and deburring tools.
- Operate required inspection and measuring tools, such as dial calipers, scales, micrometers, height gauges, and pin and thread gauges.
- Prepare raw materials for the CNC milling process.
- Source, install, and operate various fixtures and vises.
- Work from detailed drawings, sketches, or written and verbal instructions.
- Perform operator-level preventive maintenance, including chip removal, maintaining fluid levels, and cleaning machines, vises, fixtures, and tools.
- Deburr parts as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
- Function as a team player by assisting with material movement, general cleanliness, and supporting coworkers.
- Complete other assigned tasks as directed.
Qualifications and Abilities:
- High School Diploma is required; a trade school certificate is preferred.
- Three to five years of experience as a CNC Mill Programmer.
- Proficiency in spoken English is mandatory.
- Ability to complete forms in English, such as travelers, logs, and part SPC sheets.
- Demonstrated initiative to ask questions and clarify instructions.
- Capability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Possess good hand-eye coordination.
- Proficient in using handheld tools and precision measuring equipment.
- Exhibit excellent attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to completing high-quality work efficiently.
