Press Mechanic and Operator Role Summary

Copyland aims to employ a seasoned Press Mechanic and Operator to bolster our expanding production operations in West Los Angeles and Gardena. This dual-function role is perfectly suited for a print industry professional with strong mechanical aptitude, capable of maintaining, diagnosing, and fixing printing machinery, while also being prepared to operate equipment during high-volume production cycles.

Primary Duties

  • Run and upkeep digital, offset, and screen-printing devices such as those from Ricoh, Heidelberg, Mimaki, Roland, and similar manufacturers.
  • Identify and fix problems related to mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems on printing, cutting, and finishing machines.
  • Conduct scheduled servicing and verify all machinery is properly adjusted and functioning optimally.
  • Prepare, align, and execute print tasks precisely following customer requirements.
  • Oversee print output quality and implement required press modifications.
  • Provide support for DTF, large-format, and screen-printing operations when necessary.
  • Maintain precise logs for maintenance and production activities.
  • Communicate clearly with production supervisors and colleagues about task progress and equipment status.
  • Uphold a tidy, hazard-free, and orderly work area.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of three years working as a press mechanic, print operator, or technician within a printing or manufacturing setting.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
  • Hands-on experience operating digital or offset presses; familiarity with screen-printing is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of color adjustment, alignment, and Pantone color matching.
  • Capability to comprehend and adhere to production instructions and technical manuals.
  • Proactive with excellent diagnostic and analytical abilities.
  • Punctual, meticulous, and able to thrive in a dynamic production atmosphere.
  • Fundamental proficiency with computers for recording maintenance and production information.

Work Hours and Pay

  • This is a full-time role, primarily Monday through Friday, with potential occasional weekend hours as required.
