University of California, Irvine Research: Therapy and Technology Investigation

We invite you to participate in our four-week mental health research project.

Study Objective

  • To evaluate the efficacy of a chatbot as a supplementary tool within a therapeutic framework.

Study Process

  • Finish an initial baseline questionnaire.
  • Participate in a brief enrollment call via Zoom.
  • Adhere to the study protocol for a duration of four weeks.

We are awaiting authorization for two additional surveys. Upon approval, this will involve a second survey for compensation four weeks after your Zoom enrollment, followed by a third and final survey for compensation eight weeks after your Zoom enrollment.

Compensation for Participants

  • Individuals will receive a $25 Amazon gift code for finishing the baseline survey.
  • Additional compensation is available for completing the four-week and eight-week follow-up surveys.

Eligibility Requirements

Participants are required to:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Reside within the United States.
  3. Be fluent in English.
  4. Self-report having received treatment or a diagnosis for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or major depressive disorder (MDD) from a licensed professional (such as an MD, DO, LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT) within the last 12 months.
  5. Self-report currently being engaged in therapy.

Exclusion Criteria

You are not eligible if you have ever received a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, or have been hospitalized due to suicidality.
