Job Purpose

Reporting to the Lead Finisher, the individual in this role will carry out tasks involving sanding, preparation, and final finishing of products to meet client-provided samples. This includes applying finishing materials to attain the specified color and design.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform and assist with the following duties:

  • Adhere to all required personal protective equipment and attire guidelines, taking all necessary safety precautions.
  • Consult with the Lead Finisher to review finishing specifications and color needs.
  • Take apart products as needed to ensure proper application of finishes.
  • Examine wood for decay, physical damage, or other flaws and perform repairs.
  • Mend broken components, eliminate imperfections, and fill cracks.
  • Strip previous finishes and remove surplus solvents and adhesives.
  • Sand and smooth items to prepare surfaces for finishing.
  • Choose and apply appropriate finishing products such as stains, oils, paints, or protective top coats.
  • Inspect the completed product and prepare it for delivery.
  • Execute other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Superior hand-eye coordination.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Capability to operate woodworking hand tools safely and proficiently. Examples include ladders, hammers, utility knives, chisels, nail sets, and scrapers.

Working Conditions

The candidate will report directly to the Lead Finisher. Work is conducted during standard business hours at the company\'s indoor shop facility or on-site. The role involves prolonged standing and exposure to operational equipment noise.

Physical Requirements

Physical demands include, but are not limited to:

  • Bending, pushing, moving, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strenuous physical labor.
  • Standing and walking for extended durations.
  • Climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Pulling, pushing, carrying, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
  • Manual dexterity to operate specialized tools and equipment.
