California Posted 1 month ago software

About This Job

Seeking a full-stack developer or technical collaborator to assist in constructing a robust legal technology platform. This platform will integrate directly with U.S. court electronic filing systems, process serving, and backend automation.

We have already secured approval for integration with Tyler Technologies (Odyssey EFM) and are in the process of onboarding with Journal Technologies (JTI). These are the two primary vendors supporting court systems such as the Los Angeles Superior Court and various Texas courts.

Our current need is for a practical developer or a compact team to help us complete the project and proceed to launch.

Platform Overview

We are developing a platform that enables law firms and legal service providers to electronically submit documents to courts via a unified, custom interface. The concept is akin to combining DocuSign, LegalZoom, and TurboTax for litigation support services.

Additional offerings will include:

  • Process serving
  • Concierge filing assistance
  • Skip tracing
  • Intake process automation

Primary Responsibilities

  • Integration with Tyler\'s EFM system, involving API work, TOGA authentication, and envelope submission.
  • Subsequent integration with the Journal Technologies (JTI) EFM system.
  • Managing document processing, status polling, and the retrieval of conformed copies.
  • Optional development of a frontend user dashboard using React or a similar framework.
  • Implementing payment processing for credit cards and ACH transfers.
  • Building administrative tools and audit logs.

Preferred Technical Stack

  • Backend: Node.js, Python, or comparable technologies.
  • Mandatory experience with API integration.
  • Proficiency with XML, webhooks, and OAuth/token-based authentication.
  • Experience in building secure document workflows.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with React or Vue for dashboard development.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Capable of working autonomously.
  • Comfortable operating within regulated environments such as legal, government, or financial sectors.
  • Open to a contract role with a potential path to equity participation.
  • Ideally located within the United States or able to maintain substantial working hour overlap.

What We Provide

  • We possess an existing client base; this is not a theoretical project.
  • Access to genuine court systems (e.g., LASC, Tyler) and their eFiling APIs.
  • Your work will directly facilitate real-world legal document filings.
  • Potential to evolve into an equity partner or assume a CTO position.
  • Flexible scheduling; full-time or part-time engagement is acceptable.
