Hello. My name is Rick Steier.

I am a professional musician with over three decades of experience. My career includes performing with notable artists such as Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Warrant, and Quiet Riot. Presently, I tour and perform with Kingdom Come, a band I helped found, which rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

When I am not touring or recording, I offer instruction in guitar and piano. While rock music has been my primary focus, my formal training includes music theory and composition studies at the University of Louisville School of Music. Furthermore, my early career performing in cover bands throughout the Midwest equipped me with proficiency in rock, jazz, country, blues, and other genres.

Consequently, I provide instruction in all musical styles and theory for students of any age and aspiration level. Are you struggling with improvisation? I can provide specific guidance in that area.

I also have significant experience working with children, as a parent myself. I previously taught Guitar Enrichment classes at Wilbur Charter Elementary School in Tarzana while my children were students there.

My teaching philosophy centers on using songs as the primary lesson vehicle, even for beginners. This approach keeps practice engaging, as students learn the music they are passionate about. I ensure productive and enjoyable lessons with guaranteed progress.

I make learning the fundamentals fun. My repertoire includes contemporary music from artists like Post Malone, Laufey, the Killers, and My Chemical Romance, as well as popular themes such as Minecraft songs. For more mature students, I specialize in classic rock from bands like The Doors, The Beatles, Bad Company, and Led Zeppelin.
