Meet Your Mentor

My name is Jeff Napier. I am the founder of twelve enterprises spanning retail, entertainment, technology, coaching, and consulting. I share comprehensive, free details about many of these ventures at Biz5000.com. On this site, you can explore 88 business concepts—numerous requiring no prior experience, time commitment, or capital—alongside strategies and methods for established businesses.

I provide guidance on advertising, securing free publicity, social media marketing, retail operations, website development, managing employee and customer relationships, and, notably, how to launch a business from the ground up without risking your life savings.

This support extends beyond mere business counsel. I can help you cultivate the confidence and positive mindset necessary for making sound decisions consistently.

I offer a complimentary, no-obligation consultation for first-time callers. This introductory call typically lasts under ten minutes, yet you are highly likely to depart with valuable, actionable insights.

I am generally accessible during standard business hours. You may call, text, or email me at any time at (805) 843-5353 or jeff@biz5000.com. If I am unavailable when you contact me, I will respond promptly.

Do not be concerned about costs following the free consultation. I will structure my fees reasonably according to your situation. As your business expands and you can comfortably afford higher fees, my rates will adjust accordingly.

I refer to myself as a mentor rather than a coach for a specific reason. Unlike a conventional business coach, I do not insist on a rigid weekly schedule. I do not require a large upfront package payment. I will not keep you on the phone for a full hour unnecessarily. You may contact me whenever you need. Our conversations might last five minutes or an hour, and their frequency can be daily or weekly based on your needs.

You will appreciate my approachable and informative style and may be astonished by unexpected insights. The resulting increase in your profits will substantially outweigh my fees.

My History

I established my first business, a retail bicycle shop, in 1974. My initial resources were $400, a small set of tools, and six used bicycles. Within five years, it had grown into the city\'s largest professional bicycle shop.

Even during that period, I served as a coach and mentor, teaching comprehensive bicycle repair, wheel building, and frame building during the winter months.

After selling the bicycle shop, I purchased a motorhome and began traveling across the United States.

During my travels, I guided two other bicycle shop owners from the brink of failure to success. One shop was $140,000 in debt. It recovered and remains in operation 44 years later.

I encountered a professional juggler, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, a year later I also became a juggler. I performed fire and knife comedy juggling shows in San Diego, Philadelphia, and Waikiki, and made a brief appearance in a Warner Brothers film.

One day, I discovered a programming language called Turbo Pascal at a garage sale for $15. It took a year to master, after which I began writing software. I eventually created a program distributed through Walmart, Sears, Kmart, Office Depot, and other major retailers, which sold over a quarter-million copies.

My journey continued through several other businesses. One was a media exchange, similar to a library but without membership cards or due dates. Patrons could borrow unlimited books, CDs, and DVDs. To sustain the operation, I also accepted donations of unwanted media. Donations far exceeded borrowings. Some items, like a book on underwater welding, held little interest for local patrons but could be valued at over $100 online. Consequently, we sold such items online. At our peak, my team and I had 29,000 books listed for sale on Amazon, Abe Books, and Alibris.

I developed a strong interest in creating websites. Leveraging my programming background, I not only built websites but also provided clients with deep customization and technical problem-solving.

A recurring challenge for many clients was managing the businesses associated with these websites. This led me to become a mentor, advising clients on best practices and techniques for success, even in particularly challenging market conditions.

However, some individuals were difficult to assist. We all know people who habitually make poor decisions. I discovered a para-psychology system known as NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), which helps people overcome mental and emotional barriers to success in life, relationships, and business. After two years of study, I became a certified master practitioner. This allowed me to assist people not only with the practical aspects of their business but also with the underlying psychological reasons they had not achieved success.

In addition to these endeavors, I have operated a mobile welding business, an RV repair service, an eBay sales operation, and, more recently, have coached intermediate and advanced pickleball.

Now, I offer a comprehensive suite of expertise. I understand most business models and the strategies to enhance their success. Contact me whenever you are prepared to achieve more. You will find my manner both friendly and enlightening.
