POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, this role supports a warehouse team in organizing and maintaining a food warehouse, enhancing the efficiency and timeliness of food pantry services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver food and hygiene supplies to NOLP food pantry sites, including those operated by partner agencies.
- Unload weekly food deliveries at sites and prepare food storage shelves.
- Distribute NOLP groceries to clients as required.
- Assist with client and volunteer intake when necessary, maintaining a consistently courteous, respectful, and helpful demeanor.
- Provide coverage for NOLP Site Coordinators at various locations as needed.
- Supervise volunteers, track volunteer hours accurately, and aid the Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers for warehouse or food drive tasks.
- Maintain precise weekly food inventory records, including data entry into the NOLP inventory system.
- Organize, clean, and maintain the warehouse, including stocking freezers, coolers, and shelves, and preparing pre-bagged groceries for clients.
- Operate a 5-ton truck for deliveries and pickups.
- Assist in maintaining program delivery vehicles, such as cleaning and monitoring routine service needs.
- Provide driving support for APLA’s revenue-generating events.
- Help receive program deliveries and verify shipments.
- Support donation efforts by representing NOLP at weekend food drives.
OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO MEET BUSINESS NEEDS.
REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
A high school diploma is required. At least one year of experience in public-facing roles is necessary. Warehouse, stockroom, or delivery vehicle driving experience is advantageous. A clean driving record must be verified.
Knowledge of:
Stockroom operations; Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred. Familiarity with retail food sales practices and stockroom procedures is a plus.
Ability to:
- Drive a 5-ton truck.
- Use a computer with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as a forklift and pallet jack.
- Complete tasks thoroughly.
- Manage multiple projects at once.
- Work and communicate effectively with diverse ethnic and cultural communities.
- Supervise assigned volunteers.
- Meet deadlines.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Maintain detailed inventory records.
- Work in an organized, systematic manner.
- Respond sensitively to people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Demonstrate professional verbal, written, and customer service skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is an active role that regularly involves bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and moving stock weighing 50 pounds or more, as well as driving a 5-ton truck for deliveries and pickups.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold a valid California driver’s license, provide proof of automobile liability insurance, and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related duties.
