Position Summary
The Human Resources Director serves as a key strategic and operational leader, responsible for defining and implementing the organization\'s human capital plans. This role manages all aspects of human resources, encompassing talent acquisition, organizational development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, regulatory compliance, and cultural initiatives. The primary objective is to ensure these functions are fully aligned with the company\'s strategic objectives and standards of operational excellence. The ideal professional is a business-focused HR leader who excels in a fast-paced, practical setting, blending high-level strategic vision with hands-on implementation to support both office and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute an HR strategy that promotes growth, safety, and operational effectiveness.
- Act as a strategic consultant to senior management on matters of organizational structure, workforce planning, and leadership enhancement.
- Spearhead programs that reinforce company culture, employee engagement, and retention throughout the organization.
Talent Management & Development
- Establish a robust talent pipeline by directing recruitment, succession planning, and career progression strategies.
- Design and administer performance management frameworks that encourage accountability and career advancement.
- Advocate for comprehensive training and development programs, including leadership and technical skill building for field and service teams.
Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
- Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs aimed at attracting and retaining high-caliber talent.
- Conduct yearly salary evaluations, market benchmarking, and assessments of incentive plans.
- Work with the finance department to ensure compensation structures are in sync with business performance.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Direct employee relations activities, guaranteeing practices are equitable, consistent, and adhere to legal standards.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations, including OSHA and DOT requirements.
- Supervise HR audits, policy enhancements, and revisions to the employee handbook.
HR Operations & Systems
- Oversee HR systems, including HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration, to ensure operational efficiency and data integrity.
- Monitor and analyze key HR metrics such as turnover rates, retention, engagement levels, and workforce expenses.
- Create standardized HR procedures to support organizational scalability and consistency across all locations.
Culture & Engagement
- Cultivate a positive, safety-conscious, and values-based workplace environment.
- Lead employee engagement efforts, recognition programs, and internal communications that strengthen the company culture.
- Serve as a champion for the organization\'s mission, vision, and core values.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in human resources.
- Background in construction, equipment rental, manufacturing, or field-service industries is highly desirable.
- Professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is advantageous.

- Demonstrated ability to synchronize HR strategy with business objectives within a mid-sized, growing company.
- Thorough understanding of employment law, safety compliance, and workforce development.
- Outstanding interpersonal, coaching, and communication abilities.
- Proven track record of leading both strategic projects and day-to-day HR operations.
- Proficiency in using HRIS, payroll, and data reporting systems.
