About This Job

Beacon Hill\'s client, a public health plan serving the residents of Los Angeles County, is looking for a paralegal with substantial litigation experience and a background in regulatory matters, ideally within healthcare or managed care. This position will entail responsibilities such as reviewing documents, managing discovery, conducting legal research, drafting legal materials, and assisting with compliance matters.

Position: Litigation Paralegal - Healthcare/Managed Care

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90017 (Hybrid schedule, requiring 2-3 days on-site per week)
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: 24 weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as required)
Compensation: $40 to $45 per hour, based on qualifications

Primary Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification is mandatory; an advanced certification is a plus.
  • A Bachelor\'s degree is required.
  • Minimum of three years of paralegal experience.
  • Background in civil, regulatory, or healthcare-related litigation, such as provider disputes, compliance issues, or investigations.
  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in core litigation support tasks, including discovery, document review, and drafting legal documents.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Medi-Cal, CMS, and the Knox-Keene Act.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous work in a healthcare organization, health plan, or managed care setting.
  • Knowledge of public agency regulations like the Brown Act, California Public Records Act, and conflict-of-interest laws.
  • Corporate litigation experience within a healthcare organization or a law firm specializing in healthcare.
