Position Overview
The eCoin(R) device represents a groundbreaking Class III implantable product for treating Overactive Bladder (OAB), positioned to transform the pelvic health implant market. Following recent Premarket Approval (PMA), Valencia Technologies is expanding high-volume manufacturing and advancing development of the next-generation product, which will offer enhanced features and capabilities for both patients and clinicians. This mechanical engineering role seeks a qualified individual to join our skilled and dynamic team, contributing to the evolution of the product to ensure reliable and effective therapy reaches a broad patient population.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, your duties will encompass:
- Serving as a key contributor to the VTC design team in developing the next-generation eCoin system. This includes conceptualization, feasibility assessment through prototype implementation, detailed product design, and verification/validation against requirements and user needs.
- Developing designs from initial concepts that incorporate Design for Manufacturability (DfM) and Design for Testability (DfT) considerations.
- Engaging in quality-related activities such as returned product evaluation, failure analysis, and supporting relevant process teams.
- Generating comprehensive documentation for all research and development product cycles and manufacturing implementation.
- Participating in and leading design reviews throughout all phases of the development process.
- Consistently embodying the company\'s values in daily professional activities.
This position involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion on matters of substantial importance.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency within the SolidWorks environment, with a proven ability to design new products, product accessories, manufacturing fixtures and tools, and quality assurance mechanisms to support New Product Introduction (NPI).
- In-depth knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and establishing component acceptance criteria.
- Proven capability to identify design challenges and develop comprehensive solutions, including demonstrating a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) during the feasibility stage.
- Hands-on experience with failure analysis, root cause investigation, and non-conformance/CAPA systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in innovating and creating new designs based on user needs and specifications.
- Knowledgeable in conducting design risk assessments to ensure long-term product reliability.
- Ability to work autonomously and guide design initiatives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively interacting with diverse stakeholders—including Clinical, Regulatory, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams—throughout the design lifecycle.
- Previous experience in transitioning products from the design phase to full-scale manufacturing.
- Evidence of applying DfT and DfM principles consistently across design projects.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and pertinent ASTM standards is essential.
- Practical experience in designing Class III medical device implants and related accessories is highly desirable.
