About This Job
DOG ENTHUSIASTS: Are you able to offer a temporary home to a dog during the holiday period? Ace of Hearts
compensation: $300/month for a dog-friendly dog
employment type: part-time
job title: Foster
non-profit organization
Are you passionate about dogs and seeking some canine companionship this holiday season? Could you provide a temporary residence for a larger dog for several weeks or more?
Ace of Hearts is a non-profit dog rescue organization located in Los Angeles dedicated to saving dogs from shelters and offering them a renewed opportunity for life.
We are seeking compassionate foster caregivers to offer interim housing for rescued dogs while we search for their permanent adoptive families. As we rescue dogs from shelters, some may have experienced trauma, so we require individuals who can provide a sense of safety, comfort, and reassurance. Witnessing shy and apprehensive dogs gradually place their trust in you is an immensely fulfilling experience. Similarly, receiving unconditional affection from self-assured dogs is equally rewarding. Your role will involve providing affectionate care and sharing updates on their developing personalities, while we supply all necessary items, including a bed, food, treats, toys, supplies, and veterinary care.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTERS WITH PRIOR EXPERIENCE HANDLING DOGS AND WHO ARE AT EASE WITH LARGE BREEDS.
Logan is a 3-year-old border collie and lab mix. He is currently awaiting leg surgery and therefore has limited exercise capacity. He should be the sole dog or pet in the household.
Participating in our foster program is a profoundly gratifying endeavor. You will assist in rehabilitating dogs that were once abandoned and facing euthanasia at shelters, granting them a second opportunity for adoption. Our foster caregivers are genuine heroes.
Requirements for foster applicants:
- Must be 21 years of age or older. If under 21, parental approval is required.
- Must be available to foster from December 17 through January 10.
- Must possess reliable transportation and be able to transport the dog to a designated veterinarian for any necessary appointments.
- Must be comfortable with large dog breeds. We primarily rescue bully breeds, and most of our dogs weigh between 50 and 90 pounds. Please do not respond if you can only foster small dogs.
- Your home must not include children under 10 years of age, cats, or other dogs. Please do not inquire if you have children, cats, or other dogs.
- Must have already obtained approval from all relevant parties, such as landlords, property managers, or spouses. Please do not reply without such approval.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Your assistance helps us save lives.
Please include your phone number and personal email address in your response so we can reach out to you. WE WILL NOT RESPOND IF YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ARE NOT PROVIDED.
Thank you for your time and compassion. With the support of our foster caregivers, we can rescue more dogs and help each of these sweet animals secure a second chance at a joyful life.
