The annual salary range for this position is $72,782.90 to $92,124.94, with exact compensation based on relevant experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Supervisory LMFT and under the clinical supervision of a licensed Clinical Supervisor, this role entails delivering mental health services. These services include individual and group counseling, clinical intake and evaluation, crisis intervention, therapeutic activities for parents and children, community presentations, and clinical case management. Staff who are license-eligible will accrue supervised clinical hours toward licensure while providing appropriate behavioral health and substance use disorder services to APLA Health clients. Services are based on a biopsychosocial assessment and aim to promote health and wellness through care, advocacy, and education, with particular attention to the needs of low-income LGBT adults, including people living with HIV/AIDS. The position also involves providing community behavioral health services to other clients at APLA Health & Wellness. Additionally, responsibilities include educating and consulting with primary care and behavioral health providers on addiction treatment to further develop our integrated care model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct behavioral health intakes and biopsychosocial assessments; formulate treatment plans reflecting collaborative clinical goals; document progress notes; and manage treatment termination and case closure.
  • Offer crisis counseling and intervention to clients and their support networks (e.g., partners, spouses, family members).
  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling, maintaining a caseload with an average of 25 billable service hours per week.
  • Facilitate behavioral health referrals, advocacy, and service information for clients and their support systems.
  • Screen, assess, and plan interventions to reduce clients\' risk of acquiring or transmitting sexually transmitted infections.
  • Conduct outreach, patient identification, education, and provider consultation on addiction treatment to enhance our integrated service delivery model.
  • Expand the use of substance abuse screening tools within our care systems, including integrating evidence-based opioid risk assessment into our Electronic Health Record.
  • Assist in developing and distributing education and outreach materials focused on substance use identification and treatment within the LGBT community, including information on opioid misuse.
  • Identify and expand utilization of community resources and referrals to connect patients with higher-level services when needed.
  • Document services accurately and promptly in eClinicalWorks and other systems, following program policies and professional standards.
  • Adhere to all applicable professional, legal, and ethical standards in behavioral health practice, including mandated reporting, effective service delivery, documentation, confidentiality/HIPAA compliance, client safety, and professional boundaries.
  • Attend required trainings and case conference meetings.
  • Prepare monthly reports and statistics as requested.
  • Maintain client behavioral health files to ensure documentation complies with funder requirements and agency Quality Management Plan.

Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet business objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

Training and Experience: A Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from an accredited university.

Knowledge of: LGBTQ behavioral health issues and effective treatments; HIV-related behavioral health; differential diagnosis using the DSM-V; various theoretical orientations and treatment modalities; clinical techniques and interventions; treatment planning; biopsychosocial assessment; crisis intervention and reporting mandates. Substantial experience in identifying, diagnosing, and treating substance use disorders, with specific expertise in opioid misuse, is required.

Ability to: Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; organize work efficiently; thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, fast-paced setting; work well independently and as part of a team; interact effectively with diverse personalities, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities; complete documentation comprehensively and timely per APLA Health & Wellness policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a hybrid-remote role, allowing the employee to work remotely 60-80% of the time and on-site 20-40%. The position involves occasional bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of office materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Daily use of a personal computer is required for entering, viewing, and editing text and graphics both on-screen and on paper.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must hold a valid California driver’s license, provide proof of automobile liability insurance, and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
