About This Job

We are a vocational training school operating as a faith-based nonprofit organization, focused on creating life-changing opportunities. Founded in 2011, ReIGNITE Hope aims to provide individuals facing societal challenges with marketable skills—specifically in welding—to renew their sense of self-worth, open doors to lasting careers, and rekindle their optimism for what lies ahead.

Our classes are held at our main campus and instructional facility in Gardena, California. We also operate three mobile training centers, which are semi-trucks with fully equipped trailers, allowing us to deliver welding instruction directly to neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County. We occasionally hold sessions in Orange County and Sacramento as well. This distinctive approach enables us to connect with students in their own communities.

Position Summary

We are looking for a committed and skilled Welding Instructor to become part of our organization. This position offers a direct way to impact lives and participate in profoundly purposeful work. You will be tasked with delivering excellent, practical welding education and technical training, while also serving as an essential mentor and source of encouragement as students develop their abilities and self-assurance.

Primary Duties

Instructional and Technical Tasks

  • Create and present thorough welding lessons covering at least two of the processes offered by the school (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core) for adult learners with varied backgrounds and experience.
  • Offer individualized and group guidance both at our stationary Gardena classroom and inside our mobile training units at different community locations.
  • Assess student work, keep precise documentation, and monitor advancement toward welding certifications and job preparedness.
  • Guarantee that all teaching methods and the educational setting meet or surpass the standards set by the American Welding Society.
  • Advocate for and rigorously enforce all workshop safety rules, including the correct operation and upkeep of welding tools.
  • Diagnose problems with welding equipment and address or work around them as suitable; report any issues needing external specialist repair to your supervisor.
  • Help with preparing, breaking down, and arranging welding areas in the classroom and mobile units.
  • Complete welding and fabrication tasks as required.

Mentorship and Student Support

  • Guide and motivate students, acknowledging their achievements to foster confidence, professional conduct, and hope.
  • Serve as a positive example by displaying patience, reliability, and a solid dedication to quality work.
  • Help cultivate a supportive, respectful learning atmosphere that honors each individual.
  • Assist with general facility tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Active, verified American Welding Society certification (or comparable industry credential) in a minimum of two standard welding processes. Holding multiple certifications is strongly desired.
  • At least three years of professional welding experience in a production or fabrication setting.
  • Proven background in a formal teaching, training, or mentoring capacity.
  • Demonstrated skill in explaining intricate technical ideas clearly and effectively to adult students.
  • Dedication to upholding high standards of safety, professionalism, and equipment maintenance at all times.

Our Ideal Candidate

As a Christian nonprofit, we are searching for an individual who exhibits spiritual maturity rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The right candidate will:

  • Display empathy and regard for people of all backgrounds.
  • Exhibit leadership through proactive initiative, effective classroom management, and motivating students to reach their full potential.
  • Support the spiritual and emotional health of our students.
  • Help maintain a caring, encouraging environment that values the dignity and individuality of every student.
  • Work cooperatively and respectfully within a team of skilled professionals devoted to serving others.
