Property Maintenance Specialist Role

As a Property Maintenance Specialist, your primary duty will be to perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on residential and recreational facilities owned by the Metropolitan district. This involves responding to service requests, diagnosing problems, and ensuring all properties are safe, operational, and in good repair.

This position entails executing a diverse set of tasks across multiple trade areas, such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and locksmithing. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate maintenance records, responding to emergencies with effective solutions, and performing routine inspections to guarantee safety and adherence to codes. You will also coordinate with tenants to schedule repairs, keep work areas clean and professional, and prepare vacant units for new occupants. This preparation involves comprehensive interior and exterior work—including wall repair, painting, fixture replacement, rough and finish carpentry, and grounds maintenance—all performed in compliance with relevant building and residential codes.

Schedule: Hinds 4/10 Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency, plus six years of relevant experience; OR a high school diploma or equivalency, four years of relevant experience, and successful completion of a recognized HVAC trade program; OR a high school diploma or equivalency, four years of relevant experience, and successful completion of a recognized electrical trade program.

Relevant Experience is defined as: A combination of hands-on experience performing HVAC service and repairs, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, locksmithing, painting, troubleshooting, and general repair and maintenance tasks to keep residential or commercial properties and mechanical systems in proper working order.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licenses, and registrations:

  • License(s): A valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that permits you to drive throughout your employment.
  • Forklift Certification
  • Respirator Certification
  • Lead Worker Certification
