If you adore dogs and are seeking some canine companionship this holiday season, could you offer a large dog a temporary home for several weeks or more?
Ace of Hearts is a non-profit dog rescue organization located in Los Angeles dedicated to saving dogs from shelters and offering them a fresh start.
We are seeking compassionate Foster volunteers to offer interim housing for rescued dogs while we search for their permanent adoptive families. As we rescue dogs from shelters, some may arrive with emotional trauma, so we need individuals who can help them feel safe, at ease, and self-assured. It is profoundly rewarding to witness shy and apprehensive dogs begin to trust you. Receiving unconditional affection from confident dogs is equally fulfilling. Your role will involve providing affectionate care and sharing updates on their behavior, while we supply all necessary items including a bed, food, treats, toys, supplies, and veterinary care.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTERS WITH PRIOR EXPERIENCE HANDLING DOGS AND WHO ARE AT EASE WITH LARGE BREEDS.
We are PARTICULARLY in need of foster assistance during the holiday season. If you have availability over the upcoming winter holidays, such as Christmas or New Year\'s, and can foster a dog for one to two weeks, PLEASE contact us.
Below are some of our dogs currently in MOST URGENT need of new foster placements.
- Raffi - A gentle two-year-old Labrador and Boxer mix who adores people and other dogs. He enjoys playtime and aims to be everyone\'s companion. Raffi requires a home without cats. He interacts wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and delights in having a canine friend. Raffi has no health issues and is searching for a caring foster home until he finds a permanent family.
- Logan - A three-year-old Border Collie and Labrador mix. He is currently awaiting leg surgery and therefore has limited exercise capacity.
- Sabrina - A gentle six-year-old Mastiff mix. Sabrina can be reserved around new people and may growl or snap if approached before she is comfortable. Once she develops trust, however, she becomes exceedingly affectionate and deeply bonded to her caregivers. She coexists well with calm dogs and will flourish in a tranquil home environment where she feels secure and cherished. If you possess a compassionate nature and are prepared to offer a supportive and nurturing home for a special dog like Sabrina, you will gain a devoted and loving companion.
Participating in our foster program is an immensely gratifying experience. You contribute to rehabilitating dogs that were facing euthanasia at shelters, granting them a secondary opportunity for adoption. Our fosters are genuine heroes.
What we require from you:
- To be at least 21 years of age. If younger, parental approval is necessary.
- To foster the dog until adoption is finalized, or for a minimum of two to four weeks if a longer commitment is not possible. Please note: If you cannot commit to several weeks but can offer short-term emergency fostering for a few days, we still encourage you to contact us. Short-term assistance is always valuable.
- To have dependable transportation and be able to bring the dog to our bi-weekly adoption event in West Hollywood every other Saturday, as well as to our designated veterinarian for wellness visits, spay/neuter procedures, and other necessary appointments.
- To be comfortable with large dog breeds. We primarily rescue bully breeds, and most of our dogs weigh between 50 and 90 pounds. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU CAN ONLY FOSTER SMALL DOGS.
- To have NO children under the age of 10, cats, or small dogs in your household. Please do not inquire if you have children or cats. Other LARGE dogs are acceptable. Please do not inquire if you have small dogs.
- To be prepared to begin immediately.
- To have already discussed this commitment with all relevant parties such as landlords, property managers, or spouses and obtained their approval. Please do not respond without this approval.
If you have any questions, please get in touch. Help us save lives.
Please provide your telephone number and personal email address so we can contact you. WE WILL NOT RESPOND IF YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ARE NOT INCLUDED.
Thank you for your time and compassion. With the assistance of our fosters, we can rescue more dogs and help each of these sweet animals secure a second chance at a joyful life.
