If you adore dogs and are seeking some canine companionship this holiday season, could you offer a large dog a temporary place to stay for several weeks or more?
Ace of Hearts is a non-profit dog rescue organization located in Los Angeles dedicated to saving dogs from shelters and offering them a renewed opportunity for life.
We are seeking compassionate Foster caregivers to offer temporary housing for rescued dogs while we search for their permanent \"Furever\" homes. As we rescue dogs from shelters, some may have experienced trauma, so we need individuals who can help them feel safe, secure, and self-assured. It is an immensely rewarding experience to witness shy and fearful dogs gradually place their trust in you. Similarly, receiving unconditional affection from confident dogs is equally fulfilling. Your role will involve providing loving care and sharing updates on their behavior, while we supply all necessary items including a bed, food, treats, toys, supplies, and veterinary care.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTERS WITH PRIOR EXPERIENCE HANDLING DOGS AND WHO ARE AT EASE WITH LARGE BREEDS.
We have a PARTICULAR URGENT need for foster caregivers who can assist during the holiday season. If you have availability over the upcoming winter holidays, such as Christmas or New Year\'s, and can foster a dog for one to two weeks, PLEASE CONTACT US.
Below are some of our dogs currently in MOST URGENT need of new foster placements:
- Raffi is a gentle two-year-old Labrador and Boxer mix who adores people and gets along well with other dogs. He enjoys playtime and aims to be everyone\'s companion. Raffi must be placed in a home without cats. He is excellent with other dogs of all sizes and thoroughly enjoys having a canine friend to spend time with. Raffi has no health issues and is searching for a caring foster home to look after him until he finds a permanent family.
- Logan is a three-year-old Border Collie and Labrador mix. He is currently awaiting leg surgery, so his activity level is limited at this time.
- Sabrina is a sweet six-year-old Mastiff mix. She can be reserved around new people and may issue a warning growl or snap if approached before she is comfortable. However, once she develops trust, she becomes profoundly affectionate and deeply bonded to her caregivers. She coexists peacefully with calm dogs and will flourish in a tranquil home environment where she can feel secure and cherished. If you possess a compassionate nature and are prepared to offer a supportive and nurturing home for a special dog like Sabrina, you will gain a devoted and loving companion.
Participating in our foster program is an exceptionally fulfilling experience. You have the opportunity to aid in the rehabilitation of dogs who were abandoned at shelters, granting them a second chance at adoption. Our fosters are genuine heroes.
Our requirements for you:
- You must be 21 years of age or older. If you are under 21, you must have parental consent.
- You must commit to fostering until the dog is adopted, or for a minimum of two to four weeks if a longer commitment is not possible. Please note: If you cannot commit to several weeks but can offer short-term fostering for a few days during emergencies, we still encourage you to contact us. It is always valuable to have fosters available for brief, urgent situations.
- You must have dependable transportation and be able to bring the dog to our bi-weekly adoption event in West Hollywood every other Saturday, as well as to a designated veterinarian for wellness check-ups, spay/neuter procedures, and any other necessary appointments.
- You must be comfortable with large dog breeds. We primarily rescue bully breeds, and most of our dogs weigh between 50 and 90 pounds. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU ARE ONLY ABLE TO FOSTER SMALL DOGS.
- Your household must not include children under the age of 10, cats, or small dogs. Please do not inquire if you have children or cats. Other LARGE dogs are acceptable. Please do not inquire if you have small dogs.
- You must be able to begin fostering immediately.
- You must have already discussed this commitment with all relevant parties such as landlords, property managers, or spouses and obtained their approval. Please do not respond if you have not secured this permission.
If you have any questions, please get in touch. Help us save lives.
Please provide your phone number and personal email address so we can contact you. WE WILL NOT RESPOND IF YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ARE NOT INCLUDED.
Thank you for your time and compassion. With the assistance of our foster caregivers, we can rescue more dogs and help each of these sweet animals gain a second opportunity for a wonderful life.
